This is my salute to Brandon...
Brandon Teena was born Teena Renae Brandon on December 12th 1972, in Lincoln, Nebraska. When he was in his late teens she began to live his life as a male. When he was 20 he moved to Falls City where he met his girl friend Lana Tisdel and her friends, but they didn't know that he was still female.
There were two of her friends John Lotter and Marvin Nissen who eventually found out about Brandon and were so outrage that on Christmas Day 1993 they raped and beat him. They told him not to report it to police, but eventually he went to the cops. The police did not respect him because of his sexual identity, and dismissed the charge...After the two found out what Brandon had reported they found him at Lisa Lamberts house, they shot him, Lisa, and a friend.
Nissen an Lotter were arrested and charged, but tried separately. Nissen made a bargain (he testified against Lotter) and got life, and Lotter was sentenced to death in April 2001.
Brandon's Mom was awarded 17,360 in damages from the sherif. But can someone really put a price on a life...Senseless murders were committed in acts of hatred...
